UFC 144

UFC 144 is this Saturday in Japan. This is the first time the UFC has had a fight in Japan since zuffa has owned UFC. These are my picks for the main card this weekend. This card will definitely put on a great show.
Champ Frankie Edgar vs Ben Henderson ( Lightweight title): I like the champ to come up on top. Edgar is a great wrestler with plenty of knockout power. I see the champ rolling in this fight.

Ryan Bader vs Quinton "Rampage" Jackson: Rampage is coming off a loss from Light Heavyweight champ Jon Jones. I see Rampage using his past Pride skills in defeating Bader by knockout.

Cheick Kongo vs Mark Hunt: Simply Mark Hunt does not belong in the UFC so I see Kongo having an easy run in this fight.

Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Jake Shields: Shields has shows he is one of the top welterweight fighters but has a tough test against hometown favorite Akiyama. This fight will mostly take place on the ground where Shields has the advantage. I take Shields in this fight.

Tim Boetsch vs Yushin Okami: This fight has all the making for a number one contender fight of the middleweight belt. Okami has the upper hand in striking and I like him in this fight.

Hatsu Hioki vs Bart Palaszewski:  This fight also has the making for a number one contender fight for the featherweight title. Hioki is new to the UFC and is know for a good ground game. If he plays its smart and takes the fight to the ground I think he wins this fight.

Joe Lauzon vs Anthony Pettis: This fight I'm picking for Fight of the Night. Both guys are very well rounded and capable of finishing opponents in a variety of ways. I like Pettis to win because of his great stand-up game and finishing capabilities.

  1. These are going to be some exciting fights! I personally like Edgar and he actually came to a neighboring high school of mine to wrestle and talk to the wrestling team. My boyfriend has his picture taken with him. I do not know any of the Japan fighters but I am sure the fights will be good.
