Is Jeremy Lin a fluke or hidden gem?

With all the excitement over Jeremy Lin the past few weeks I thought I would take a closer look at him. His story first starts in high school in California. As a senior he lead his high school team to a 32-1 record beating nationally raked Mater Dei high for the Cal DII state title, and was named Cal DII player of the year.

After that he was only heavily recruited by Ivy League school and Harvard was the only one to give him a full ride. While at Harvard he set Ivy League records and Harvard records. His senior year he scored a career-high 30 points against UCon and was All-Ivy League First Team averaging 16 pts, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Lin went undrafted but had a great Summer League camp playing better than overall #1 pick John Wall. Golden State was the first to sign Lin but that only lasted one season and was cut soon after the season. Houston had Lin for the preseason this year and waived him the day before the season started. After that its history the Knicks claim him after injuries to Iman Shumpert and Baron Davis.

Is Lin the answer for the Knicks? Well right now yes, he's brought a new attitude to the struggling Knicks. With Lin's background it makes sense why he is preforming at such a high level. He's been a winner at very level so far and its looking promising in the NBA for him. He hasn't be tested my a true point guard yet but Lin has show big time potential after his short 6 games. I might be a little linsane but this guy might be the real deal.

  1. Almost went the whole post without making a pun out of his name...but it is hard not too. Seriously though, this guy knows where his players are and how to manipulate the court. He could be around for a while.

  2. For the Knicks I think that Lin and Melo are the answer. If the two can work together I think that they can continue on this winning stride they have. The popularity is there with Lin and Melo and so is the talent so there is no reason why they can make this team go far.

  3. Lin definitely has been a great asset to the Knicks. I am not a huge basketball fan, but I definitely have heard enough about Lin to know that wherever he goes, he will most likely succeed. His talents and achievements should never go to waste and that's why I agree with you that he might be the "real deal."

  4. Jeremy Lin is a hidden gem. He is similar to an undrafted player or a player who comes off the bench (being the 12th man) and having a breakout year. He is definately making a name for himself and I hope he can continue this play into next year so he can be voted as an all star. Also I hope he can help the Knicks make a deep playoff run since Carmelo is one of my favorite players.

  5. Personally, I think he'll start to tail off soon and his production will drop, but right now he's doing just about everything right.

  6. It's pretty interesting to think, if David Stern hadn't of vetoed the hornets/rockets/lakers trade, the rockets would not have had to release Lin to make room to go after Dalembert...

    1. Sorry wrong reason...the rockets would've had to keep Lin because they would've needed 3 point guards on the roster, because Goran Dragic would've been traded to either New Orleans or Los Angeles...still interesting to think about

  7. Linsanity is the real deal I believe. If you look he has always had solid stats and now he's just breaking out of his shell. I think its great watching him play, he's a showstopper as well as a good all around player. He can drop 25 a night or he can have 10 assist, whatever needs done for the Knicks to win Jeremy Linderalla can usually pull it off. Then when Melo comes back that team is going to be dangerous. I also like linspirations story and how he acts, not cocky or arrogant. Just livin the dream, and I hope it continues.

  8. Lin is a stud, but really don't think he will continue to play this well. Melo will come back and take his shots and take away from this "Linsanity". I love the guy and i love the story, i think we all love a true underdog story. But, i do not beleive he will continue this amazing run he is having.

  10. Jeremy Lin seems to be the real thing. They are playing Miami tonight and so far it is a pretty close game at half time, although they are losing by 4.
